How To Moderate Comments on WP Site
Details
In this training video, we explore some of the ways to moderate comments on the blog.
Options:
Here are the options you have for moderating:
- Approve
- Reply
- Edit (for some spelling is fine. Otherwise, just leave as is I think)
- Trash
- Spam
When to approve:
When the comment doesn't ask a question or is answering someone else's question, it's fine to just approve it.
When to reply:
Generally, I reply. If there's a question, that's a given. I also like to give just a little positive ping back to the person thanking them for stopping by to add their voice to the conversation.
When to edit:
I generally don't edit. But I do make Ora Wellness one word or change 'Brushing Blend' to HealThy Mouth Blend for branding consistency.
When to trash:
I trash fairly easily at times. If the comment isn't helpful or contains any less-than-desirable content, I'll just trash it. Trashing is gentler than spamming as spamming actually blocks this person from commenting again.
When to spam:
When a comment tries to put a bunch of links in their comment obviously just to gain SEO traction by having their site mentioned on our site, it's spam to me. I'm sure there are other versions, but this is what's coming to me right now.
To do:
If you reply and approve, attempt to keep the reply short and helpful.
If you embed a link, please make it an inbound link only and limit to 1-2 links.
Not to do:
Avoid suggesting any course of treatment or offer any medical/dental advice.
