BrushEco - the sustainable Bass toothbrush
Ready for a Functional, Sustainable, and Beautiful Toothbrush?
-
Functional because of its Bass toothbrush design features: rounded bristle tips, shorter handle, medium-firmness bristles, and (for the Adult 3-row option) spaced out bristle tufts.
-
Sustainable because BrushEco is made of 99.97% biodegradable and compostable materials.
- Beautiful, well, that's a judgment call. But we find the simple design and sustainable, bamboo construction to be beautiful. :)
The BrushEco Mission...
It's no secret that humans have created a big plastic pollution problem, and plastic toothbrushes definitely play a part in that.
An estimated 1 billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away each year. And that’s just in the USA!
To help reduce our plastic footprint, we created BrushEco, the first eco-friendly toothbrush with a Bass design. But, we really wanted to do something to help clean up the existing plastic mess that's already floating around the world's oceans and other waterways.
So, we're donating 100% of the profits from BrushEco sales to organizations that are committed to creating and implementing solutions to our global plastic problem.
Among our favorites are:
- The Ocean Cleanup Project
- Surfrider Foundation
- Plastic Pollution Coalition
- 5 Gyres
- Algalita Marine Research
- Seabin
- 4Oceans
And many others!
That means that by purchasing BrushEco, you are directly funding and supporting global cleanup efforts.
It's time for companies (both small and large) to champion causes that help move forward sustainable, earth-conscious solutions for future generations.
OraWellness is proud to do our part to support humanity by finding sustainable alternatives to plastics for our holistic oral health solutions.
Three Design Choices: Junior Size With 3 Rows of Bristles, Adult Size With 3 Rows of Bristles, or Adult Size With 4 Rows of Bristles
Despite the names "Adult size" and "Junior size", there is no set age range for our Bass Toothbrushes. Some of our adult customers prefer to use the Junior toothbrush, as it better suits the size of their mouth. Conversely, some children have larger mouths that can accommodate the Adult size toothbrushes.
All three of our BrushEco options have rounded bristle tips, a shorter handle, and medium-firmness bristles. Although each of the BrushEco options can be used alone to clean the entire mouth, some of our customers prefer to use more than one type of BrushEco for different purposes.
- The Adult size 3-row option has bristle tufts that are more spaced out, so this option is really great for cleaning along the gum line with the Bass Brushing Technique, for cleaning between teeth with gaps, and for cleaning around braces.
-
The Adult size 4-row option and the Junior size 3-row option both have bristle tufts that are closer together. So, they're both great for gently cleaning and polishing the teeth. The Junior size option has a smaller head, so it's particularly helpful for folks who have smaller mouths and for brushing any hard-to-reach areas like behind the lower front teeth and the molars in the back of the mouth.
Do I Need More Than One Toothbrush?
It's really up to you. We've found that there are benefits to having more than one type of toothbrush.
First, when we 'brush our teeth', we are looking to accomplish more than one job.
If you think about it, each tool in a toolkit does its specific job. Picture a carpenter's toolkit--you can't fix everything with a hammer.
We find that the original Adult size 3-row Bass toothbrush that Dr. Bass created so many years ago still works best for wiggling bristles down into gum pockets. And now we also have a 4-row Adult size and a Junior size BrushEco that can each help to clean and gently polish your teeth.
Also, alternating between toothbrushes (for example, using brush A in the mornings and brush B at night) allows more time for each brush to fully dry out between uses. This is an easy way to reduce the risk of 'thug bugs' living on your toothbrush (gross, but possible :).
So How Do I Use More Than One Type of Brush?
We like to clean our gum line and our teeth every day. You too, right?
If you don't have a lot of time, you can try this: brush twice daily, cleaning your gum line really well once a day with the 3-row BrushEco and your teeth really well once a day with the 4-row BrushEco or the Junior BrushEco.
That way, you can effectively care for your teeth and gums every day without having to commit extra time to your oral hygiene routine (and since you're alternating techniques, you'll have a dry brush for each brushing).
Here's a video that demonstrates how to use the 3-row Bass brush design to clean your gum line and stop gum disease.
And here's a video that shares a simple strategy for how to use the 4-row BrushEco or the Junior BrushEco to clean your pearly whites.
We Have Lots of Mouths in Our Home. How Will Each Person Identify Their Toothbrush(es)?
Each BrushEco has a little differentiating design on the handle.
Think art! :)
Current designs are:
- hearts
- smiley faces
- bees
- dolphins
- turtle
While we can't offer you the choice to pick your preferred design, when we pack orders with multiple BrushEco's, our team is going to make sure you have a variety of design options in your package.

Just as I was thinking what a "big mouth" adult I am, I find out that I am only a "big mouth child"! This tooth brush is wonderful! the big person's toothbrush was a bit difficult to maneuver so, after about 2 weeks, i switched.

Works great!

I like the junior ones for my kids

i love the three row brush for my gum line and for getting in between a big gap i have. i found the four rows to be too many bristles for my little mouth. :)

I really love that the bamboo toothbrush is sustainable environmentally. The 4 row bristles are my favorite but I do use the 3 row also. I keep my toothbrushes in just enough 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide to cover the bristle heads. The bamboo toothbrushes molded very badly on the handles. If the bamboo handle material is so reactive to moisture that isn't even touching the handles, then would it possibly harbor what the eye cannot even see. This makes it impossible to keep my brushes **** bug free & ready for immediate use each time.
Aloha Turquoise, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re sorry that your BrushEco bamboo brushes molded on the handles! If the mold hasn’t penetrated deeply into the wood, you could try removing it with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide and then setting the brush on a sunny window sill to let it air dry. To condition BrushEco, feel free to rub coconut oil (or wax) onto the dry wood to see if that helps. Coconut oil is antimicrobial and anti-fungal so it may help to prevent mold from growing. Moving forward, you might consider conditioning BrushEco first before using your new toothbrush. We don't recommend soaking BrushEco in hydrogen peroxide for too long or too often because the wood can warp and expand. I hope that helps!

I've been using these brushes for months. They clean well and while the wood gets damp, it dries out just fine. The brush and bristles always look clean to me.

Love this company and their products. But, next time I'll order the plastic toothbrushes. I wanted the wooden ones because of the issues with plastics in the environment. But I find the wooden toothbrush bulky in my mouth and harder to brush with. Sorry, too bad about that.

Love them, the three row gets in between my teeth and able to hold the brush in a lighter way so I don't "scrub" my gums. Thank you

Orawellness' Bass toothbrush is my favorite toothbrush. I like being able to control my brushing, it feels great on my teeth and gums while I'm brushing and after, and my dentist and dental hygienist both compliment my teeth and gums during my visits. They even said last visit that I could get my teeth cleaned once a year instead of twice a year if I wanted. I hated using the plastic so I was excited when the brush echo came out. I didn't expect to like the BrushEco as much as the plastic version but I was willing to sacrifice to be environmental. To my surprise, I love the BrushEco even more. It is light, has that popsicle stick taste in my mouth, and the brushes feel great on my teeth and gums. I'm very excited about this toothbrush!

I found that the bristles didn't reach between my teeth and I didn't like the feel of the handle. Seems silly, but I like the easy glide of a polished handle.
Aloha Phileta, Thank you for your product review. We’re sorry that BrushEco didn’t work out for you. We understand and respect that BrushEco is not for everybody. We’re happy to continue providing the original (plastic) Bass brushes for you and others who prefer them. Thank you and Aloha! :)
